Meet Christine Ta

I’m Christine, and I have a background in dental hygiene that I’m really proud of. I graduated from the University of Alberta’s dental hygiene program, earning both a diploma and a degree (BScDH). More recently, I furthered my education by completing a Master of Education in Adult Learning and Global Change from the University of British Columbia.

Throughout my career, I’ve spent over 16 years practicing clinical dental hygiene. But I’ve also delved into other areas, like academia, where I’ve taught in the dental assisting program at SAIT. I’ve contributed to public health through my work with the Alex Dental Health Bus, and I’ve been actively involved in advocacy, having served as a board member of the Dental Hygienists Association of Alberta. Additionally, I’ve dabbled in research and have been an active participant with the University of Alberta in that regard.

In the clinical realm, I’ve acquired certifications that allow me to administer local anesthesia and conscious nitrous oxide sedation. I’m also authorized to write Schedule I drugs concerning dental hygiene assessments and diagnoses, and I can perform atraumatic restorative therapy, which means I can provide temporary fillings in the event of a dental emergency.

One of my biggest passions is providing meaningful education that emphasizes the importance of preventive dental health and how it ties into overall health.

When I’m not immersed in the world of dental hygiene (which, let’s be honest, I’m often thinking about), I love to enjoy good food, travel to new places, and spend quality time with my family.
